Teaching Islam to children is above all about love, example and play. Here are simple guideposts to support young ones according to their age, without pressure.
1 Talking about Allah simply
Explain that Allah is the Creator who loves us, cares for us and sees everything. Use nature (the sun, animals, stars) to show His greatness in a way children understand.
2 Telling stories of the Prophet ﷺ
Stories of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the prophets show kindness, honesty and courage. Stories captivate children and pass on beautiful values.
3 Learning prayer gently
Let the child imitate prayer beside you, learn short surahs, and make it a joyful moment. Consistency comes little by little, without forcing.
4 Good manners (Akhlaq)
Saying “Bismillah” before eating, greeting with “Assalamu alaykum”, telling the truth, sharing and respecting parents: these daily gestures build good character.
5 Learning through play
Coloring, songs, picture books, Ramadan calendars and small rewards make learning enjoyable. Children remember better what is linked to joy.
